The Ultimate 'Untraceable' Every Day Carry
Dear friend,
1. There are no apps used in the trailer below.
2. Sometimes when you watch magic trailers, 5 minutes of process has been cut so that the effect seems to go straight to the reveal. That is not the case here. This effect takes exactly as long as portrayed in the trailer. Nothing extra is written down, spoken, or highlighted by the spectator. Everything is performed exactly as it is pictured.
We’ve developed four more effects that use the Trace system that can all be set up very quickly and easily but still produce incredible outcomes.
Here’s what they look like…
1. Would You Rather?
You ask your spectator to play a game of ‘Would you rather?’ with you. You give them four options and they make four decisions. Yet as soon as the game is over you open your locked phone to a notes page where you've drawn a picture predicting their answer for each question.
2. Star Sign Test
You draw a prediction of the spectator’s star sign in your notes without them saying anything and lock your phone. Next, they give you their date of birth and you open your now locked phone to show you guessed the correct star sign. Note that neither you nor the spectator need to verbally say the name of the star sign at any point before the reveal.
3. Heads or Tails
You flip a borrowed coin four times in a row and note the outcome. You then open your locked phone to show that you perfectly predicted the outcome before you began.
4. The Imaginary Loaded Dice
You hand your spectator a pair of imaginary dice and explain that they’re loaded to always roll the same thing. You ask them to roll them one at a time and call out what number they see to prove it. When they name their two numbers, you open your phone to show that you previously drew a couple of dice in your notes app, and the numbers on those dice match the numbers rolled by the spectator.
All of these are now included in Trace.
As a result of these additions, we will be slightly increasing the price of Trace - but we'll wait a few days to do that. If you're interested in this product, we'd recommend buying now to secure the lower price.
What is Trace?
This is our favourite product yet, at the lowest price we could imagine (less than the price of a pizza), protected by an ironclad lifetime refund guarantee.
But before we both get too carried away, no product is perfect and we wanted to warn you about a couple of things…
“Sometimes magic is just someone spending more time on something than anyone else might reasonably expect.” - Teller
As Teller points out in the above quote, oftentimes magic requires us to spend more time doing things than anyone would ever expect.
The Trace system, once mastered, will give you near limitless possibilities for incredibly powerful and easy impromptu magic. Zero exaggeration, this is the best EDC (every day carry) we’ve ever used.
But we don’t want to hide that the trade-off for having such clean and direct magic at your fingertips is that it will take some upfront work to set up.
When you buy this product, you will get access to a video tutorial where we walk you through exactly how this works and how you can do this on your phone. As this isn’t an app or software you can instantly download, it will require you to do some work to set it up on your end.
You'll also be provided with a Google sheet with all the relevant information and resources you need to quickly set the Trace system up on your phone. (This should enable you to set this up at least 5x quicker than us.)
Even with that said, we think you can buy this download and get more than your money's worth just by learning how this principle works and all the ways you could use it yourself, even without the tricks we've offered as starting points.
But we've also taught you the 9 effects we're currently performing with Trace, exactly how we set them up, and how you can do the same in far less time than it took us.
(And some of the effects could be ready to perform in as little as 20 minutes.)
Final disclaimer…Trace will also require some familiarity and ability with a modern phone, so again please don’t purchase if you’re not comfortable with that—or at least, if you do purchase make sure you know that in advance so as not to be disappointed or frustrated. We will respond to any customer queries and do what we can, but unless we’re in the room with you, you’ll have to be the one to set this up.
The good news is that you just have to put that time in once, and the effects will be pretty much self-working in performance.
The second disclaimer is that Trace is primarily designed for Apple users. That’s what we use and that’s what we’ve catered to in designing these effects.
We think it might be possible to use this same principle on Android—but we want you to know that we can’t guarantee it and won't be addressing it in this tutorial.
This product is priced cheaply enough that if Android users are just curious about the method, want to see how it works on Apple and are happy to take the rest into their own hands, it won’t cost them an arm and a leg to do so.
Those are the two big disclaimers.
The other important things to point out are that:
- Trace uses no third-party apps.
- Trace uses no forces.
- Trace pretty much instantly resets.
Ultimately what you’re getting with Trace is our thoughts on an incredible principle that can be used to perform many different effects (maybe even above and beyond what you will see on this page.)
This system allows you to perform incredibly direct, powerful and easy versions of classic plots using just your phone. It’s the perfect EDC. Many of us love magic but might not always have gimmicks, cards or other 'EDC' on us...but we'll always have our phone.
Here are just nine uses of Trace we’ve played with over the last few months:
1. The Book Test
You open your notes app and show how you can use your finger to draw anything. You hand your spectator a comic book and ask them to turn to any page, and then visualise the drawing they see on that page. After a few moments you ask them to turn the book around, and at the same time you turn your phone screen around. The drawings match.
2. The Flag Test
You open your notes app and show how you can use your finger to paint different colors on the screen. Next, you ask your spectator to think of any country in the world and visualise their flag. You take a few moments to paint something on your notes, then lock your phone to make sure you can't edit or modify it.
You ask the spectator which flag they’re thinking of. Let’s say they say Portugal. As you ask them to describe that flag you slowly unlock your phone to display that you’ve painted a flag exactly matching their description.
3. The Letter Reveal
You open your notes app and show how you can use your finger to draw anything. Next, you have your spectator think of any word and then any letter within that word. You close your eyes and allow your finger to trace something on your phone, then lock your phone to make sure you can't edit or modify it. You ask the spectator to reveal their letter and when you unlock the phone that’s exactly what you’ve drawn.
4. The Drawing Duplication
You open your notes app and show how you can use your finger to draw anything. You ask your spectator to open their notes app and make sure they can do the same. Next, you both draw an animal without showing it to each other. When you turn your phones around you’ve both drawn exactly the same animal!
5. The Open Prediction
You open your notes app and show how you can use your finger to draw anything. Next, you ask your spectator to simply think of any playing card. You draw something on your phone and then lock it. When your spectator names their card, you unlock your phone to show that you’ve drawn one card—the chosen card.
6. The Morse Code Word Reveal
You ask your spectator to name any three letter object—something short enough that they could spell it using Morse Code. You ask them to focus on that word and repeat the Morse Code sequence over and over. Suddenly, without you touching it, your phone flashlight lights up. Counting the flashes of the light, your spectator is astonished to see it spell their thought of word.
7. The Holiday Reveal
You ask your spectator to think of any country they'd like to visit. You open your maps app, make a guess, and then close out of the app. You lock the phone so you can't modify it. Your spectator reveals their country of choice, and you open your phone to show that that's the exact destination pulled up in your maps.
8. The Song Prediction
You ask your spectator to think of any Disney song. Next, you open your phone and start playing a song, but turn the volume to zero. Your prediction is locked in but currently can’t be heard. Once your spectator names their song you simply turn up the volume on your phone and the song that has been playing is of course their song.
9. The Phone Swap Text Test
You and your spectator swap phones. With your eyes closed you open a new note and randomly tap on the keyboard to generate a nonsensical word. They do the same on yours. Both of you lock the phones, open your eyes, and swap them back. When you unlock both phones you've both written the same thing.
